At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Senior Tool Designer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Develops and advises programs on the application of highly complex equipment and tooling solutions that enable programs to meet Production System requirements.
- Assesses technical data and influences product engineering design to optimize production system integration for aerospace products.
- Develops engineering definition for the creation and modification of complex equipment and tooling.
- Mentors junior engineers though leadership and technical expertise.
- Leads the execution of project plans and influences Make/Buy decisions. Develops methodologies for and approves highly complex analysis.
- Develops requirements for safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, and ergonomic factors.
- Evaluates robotics, automation or technology insertion opportunities and provides solutions for emergent technical issues of significance across the production system.
- Education/experience acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
- Experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Software competencies:
- CATIA V5 or other CAD package
- PLM systems
- Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Education/experience acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
- 3DX Experience.
- Experience developing tooling and equipment for development programs.
- Basic Microsoft Project experience.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
- Follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
- Must work onsite at Aurora/Boeing Columbus, MS, Manassas, VA or Bridgeport, WV.
- Must be able to travel to various domestic Boeing/Aurora sites (up to 25% Travel).
