We are seeking a Specialist, Software Engineer to join the team at our Huntsville, AL site.
Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Software Development, Space Business Unit, this position will support the Huntsville's software team's primary responsibility is to develop and maintain flight and ground software in support of key Space programs. Our team also provides support to defense control systems on an as needed basis. As a key contributor under the general guidance of a project team lead, you will have hands on opportunities develop applications that support human space flight. This career opportunity will challenge you to tackle complex design problems in a rapid paced, laboratory development environment. As a member of the software development team your regular duties will include contributing to the production of software requirements, design, implementation, and test for flight and ground applications. This position would be 1st shift. 7:00 am to 4:30 pm 9/80 schedule.

We've begun hiring for our third facility in the Huntsville area, a 379,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility near the Huntsville airport that will specialize in the production and assembly of inert solid rocket motor components. We are also continuing to grow at our Huntsville center of excellence for Missile Solutions Program Management and Engineering, as well as our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in north Huntsville, where we produce advanced propulsion products.

90% - As a contributor to a software development team performing requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of real-time control system and/or application software. Participate in the creation of software development documentation. Support internal and customer reviews of software development work products. Support the preparation of program milestone reviews.
10% - Support software development process improvement by assessing software process metrics, identifying process gaps, creating and evaluating process improvement options, reviewing and improving metric definition and collection methods, evaluating industry tools and other resources to promote the continued growth and maturity of the software organization at Aerojet Rocketdyne.
Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline and nine (9) + years of engineering experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
