We are seeking an Sr Aerothermal Fluids Engineer to join our team. The selected individual will work with our aerothermal fluids group in our Huntsville, AL defense headquarters. Under supervision of senior engineering staff, this person will perform heat transfer and fluid dynamics analysis of solid rocket motor (SRM) hardware components to support the design of Defense products.

We've begun hiring for our third facility in the Huntsville area, a 379,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility near the Huntsville airport that will specialize in the production and assembly of inert solid rocket motor components. We are also continuing to grow at our Huntsville center of excellence for Missile Solutions Program Management and Engineering, as well as our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in north Huntsville, where we produce advanced propulsion products.

70% - Perform aerothermal and fluids analysis to model Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) components to support the design of Defense products. Thermal analysis includes temperature prediction and ablation assessment of SRM insulators and other hardware components. Thermal analysis is performed using meshing tools and company proprietary software developed from classic aerothermal tools such as ACE, gasket, and CMA for thermal ablation. Additionally Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) analysis is performed using tools such as Fluent. Duties include analysis to support program milestones during the entire design cycle and test support for pre and post-test analysis of static fired motors for model validation. Complete tasks closely with senior staff and management to quickly learn the software as well as learn techniques to solve technical tasks and problems. Must communicate effectively with peers, mentors, and management to ensure clear understanding of the task assigned, deliverables required, and schedule assigned.
20% - Produce thermal analysis and CFD reports and test reports. Make presentations of analysis results to both internal and external customers. Present analysis results to peers and customers.
10% - Support verification tests of solid propulsion systems and components.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5 plus (5+) years of related, professional, post academic experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. A Master's degree is desirable, but not required.
