Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking to fill multiple Intern - Design Engineering roles for Summer 2024 in its Huntsville, AL location.
Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

Aerojet Rocketdyne is growing in The Rocket City, Huntsville, AL! We've begun hiring for our third facility in the Huntsville area, a 379,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility near the Huntsville airport that will specialize in the production and assembly of inert solid rocket motor components. We are also continuing to grow at our Huntsville Defense HQ for Program Management and Engineering, as well as our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in north Huntsville, where we produce advanced propulsion products.

After orientation and training, interns will perform various entry-level engineering duties for the Mechanical Design and CAD Modeling technical staff in Solid Propulsion, Nozzle Design and Composite Design for Controllable Solids Propulsion, Solid Motor Propulsion and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion field. These positions will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company programs and products.
Projects may include assisting with the development of engineering designs that are used on controllable solids propulsion, solid rocket motor and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion applications. Tasks will vary but may include cost estimates for proposals, engine systems development, verification and test support related to our rocket engine products, and technical review of reliability and systems safety analysis products. Additionally, the role will allow interns to become familiar with and utilize computer aided design software tools used to create 3D models and perform basic engineering calculations to support concepts and preliminary designs.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. degree program in Mechanical Engineering (or similar major), and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

Solid academic track record of accomplishment
Leadership & teamwork skills
Hands-on mechanical experience
Experience with CAD software tools
Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
