We are hiring a Senior Structural Designer for our Mobile, AL transportation group. This role will provide technical leadership for bridge modelling and drafting, as well as actively contribute to the delivery of planning and design of bridge structures and other transport infrastructure. This is a critical lead designer role in which you will contribute across project delivery, technical leadership and digital engineering.

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of structure and bridge design, including modelling and drafting, on transport and other projects.
    • Lead structural design and drafting teams on major projects.
    • Prepare project documentation suitable for approval, construction, and contract administration.
    • Actively participate in the development and implementation of Technology strategies across HDR's Engineering Practice.
    • Provide mentoring, assistance and guidance to other staff.
    • Perform non-routine and complex modeling assignments requiring application of advanced modeling techniques
    • Work independently with occasional advice from your supervisor
    • Direct efforts of less-experienced personnel as needed

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design
    • Microsoft Office product experience
    • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
    • Relevant tertiary qualifications in drafting and/or design
    • Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation.
    • Experience working within civil infrastructure and digital development & delivery

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Supervisory/Lead experience helpful
