Job Description

TSC is seeking highly motivated students who are pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering for its Cooperative Education Program in Huntsville, AL, supporting the Radar & Precision Weapons Development Operation. These students shall excel academically and exhibit a true passion for their work while demonstrating a positive attitude. During this experience, students convert theory into practice as they apply classroom knowledge to practical work situations, as well as gain knowledge and skills, which will enhance future coursework.

Our Co-Ops commit three semesters to TSC by an alternating work schedule with their school schedule. These three semesters offer students the opportunity to clarify their academic focus and test their career interests and goals. Many of our experienced engineers were at one-time TSC Co-Ops and it's our goal to continue in this tradition.

Our Co-Ops shall have an interest in analysis, design, and manufacturing of RF/microwave sensors and systems including but not limited to radars/sensors, missile seekers, and communications systems. They will also have a strong desire to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Mechanical & Thermal Design of Electronics Systems

  • Electronics Systems Packaging

  • Design for Manufacturability & Assembly

  • Design for Additive Manufacturing

  • Structural & Thermal Analysis

  • Manufacturing - Traditional & Additive

  • Rapid Prototyping

Responsibilities:

The Co-Op's primary role is to support the full-time engineering staff with their tasks. Co-ops are given opportunities to get hands on, practical work experience to help them further excel at, appreciate, and understand the application of their college coursework. As the co-ops gain more experience and coursework, they are able to take on more responsibilities and further aid the engineering staff. Listed below are the co-ops' primary role is to support the full-time engineering staff with their tasks. Listed below are some of the job-related responsibilities for the co-ops at TSC, Alabama Operations.

  • Design hardware in support of electronics systems development

  • Military defense systems field test support

  • Perform structural and thermal analyses of electronics systems

  • Design and fabricate hardware supporting environmental testing

  • Support environmental testing

  • Support manufacturing and assembly

  • System integration and testing

  • Creating and maintaining mechanical drawings

  • SolidWorks Simulation

  • Autodesk CFD.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university and be in good academic standing

  • Applicants should be in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Security Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design utilizing SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro-E, or other 3D modeling software

  • Basic understanding of machining and electronic system manufacturing processes

  • Ability to read and generate mechanical drawings

  • Understanding and Application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
