This position is located at Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.

Essential Functions

  • Provide operations and maintenance support for ALTAIR UHF-band and VHF-band receiver systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware.
  • Work with technicians at hands-on troubleshooting of receiver hardware.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Perform (lead and provide support) for design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) and operations and maintenance (O&M) projects involving receivers and transmitters.
  • Install new equipment and provide technical input about receiver system configuration and performance.
  • Resolve complex technical issues seen during integration and test of Radar Receiver and Exciter sub-systems.
  • Climb and work at moderate heights, obtain MEWP certification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to Company safety policies, procedures, and programs.

Required Skills

  • Familiar with UHF and VHF receiver systems, RF transmission, and RFI shielding practices.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and complete electrical designs.
  • Familiar with and able to operate standard electronic test equipment, including but not limited to: RF power meters, spectrum analyzers and frequency analyzers.
  • Experience using a multimeter, RF power meter, logic analyzer, oscilloscope, phase noise analyzer (PNA), and/or spectrum analyzer to test and verify the functions of mixed signal circuits and systems.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams, wiring lists, and assembly prints.
  • Ability to properly trouble-shoot issues in the receiver subsystems.
  • General knowledge of Analog/ Radio Frequency (RF) components such as amplifiers, couplers, hybrids, feed structure, filter receivers, exciters, transponders, RF switches, isolators, attenuators, waveguides, etc.
  • General knowledge of signal modulation, digital pulses, spread spectrum, signal detection, interference analysis, baseband filtering, etc.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, preferably including the fundamentals of receiver architecture.
  • Full understanding of the unique safety issues associated with working at high power RF that are common in this work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
  • General knowledge of analog-to-digital conversion of RF signals.
  • Ability to direct a group of field engineers and technicians with frequent "hands-on" troubleshooting.
  • Works well with others in the radar group, including management, to meet mission requirements.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Sufficient critical thinking and writing skills required to generate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), maintenance & operation procedures, and weekly reports.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • Two or more years' experience in microwave system RF chain analysis techniques and RF system hardware design practices.
  • Experience with high power radar systems operation is a plus.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Physical ability to move equipment and racks up to 50 pounds.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support projects or mission requirements.
  • This position is accompanied.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
