DESCRIPTION

THE POSITION

The Senior Applications Programmer will serve on the Joint Staff Support Center (JSSC) Information Technology Support Services (JSSC-ITSS) contract as a for the JSSC at the Pentagon, Arlington., VA, responsible for support in managing the business applications and design specifications for functional activities of multiple JSSC owned/operated systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing high-level technical support and direction by analyzing the functionality and efficiency to develop block diagrams and logic flow charts and translate detailed design into computer software. supporting JSSC operations.
  • Partner with customers to build dashboards and maintain the system and network monitoring applications, changes/updates, troubleshooting, and future upgrades. Also customize, configure, install, test, debug, and refine the suite of applications to create a usable toolset for the JOSC and its world- wide customer base and prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
  • Engineer hardware and software architectures for Tivoli products and framework and clear understanding of the RedHat Linux operating system to Improve the customer's operating environment by providing expert support while also maintaining the cybersecurity/IA posture of systems/hardware managed/administered for both JSSC and JSSC's customers' assets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with outside organizations, customers, contract and divisional leadership and across a matrixed team of technicians to include both government and contractor in a manner to establish a partnership regarding system administration, complex technical issues/solutions functions, different versions of Tivoli, supporting tools, and privilege sets, attend and actively participate in change and configuration control functions.
  • Evaluate and recommend options to enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency. Provides technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met as per government requirements and responsible for timely coordination of changes through a change management board as required, customers, and other organizational personnel to perform your tasks
  • Ability to analyze diagnostics of applications, system and software, in a virtual machine (VM) environment, support the team with trouble shooting and updating / patching efforts, resolve operating system/application system performance/challenges, and maintenance to improve performance and reliability within the supported OE to ensure maximum availability.
  • Provide expertise in Tivoli products at a Senior Application Administrator level, encompassing both front end and back end operations. This includes a comprehensive understanding of various IBM Tivoli products such as the framework, monitoring tools, OMNIbus, agent builder, and BigFix, and support tools
  • Ability to install Tivoli products from scratch on complex networks if necessary, as well as proficiency in monitoring, updating, and testing software for supported systems. They should excel in troubleshooting various issues such as stalled processes, failed batch jobs, and system errors, while also being capable of executing recovery actions effectively and understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process for change and problem management
  • Exercise sound independent judgement in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria associated with obtaining results under this contract; and identify upgrade needs, and anticipate customer requirements by effectively planning, scheduling, and overseeing system upgrades
  • Compliance with all safety and security requirements, policies, and procedures; worksite access protocols and updates, training requirements, required certifications, and other duties/projects as assigned

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • 100% on-site at the Pentagon.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility; AND,
  • CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent; AND,
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND,
  • 5 years of general information technology experience. Including:
    • Proven experience with Tivoli products at a Senior Application Administrator level; front end and back end; IBM Tivoli products: framework, monitoring, OMNIbus, agent builder, BigFix, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of RedHat Linux, install Tivoli products from scratch on a complex network, VM environment, ITIL.
    • Think strategically (impacts to overall network) and perform tactically.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and customize software and applications.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
