Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Data Scientist Intern to support Avion Solutions. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Support requirements definition for Large Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning and training project.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect raw training data, sort, clean, organize, and format datasets for use in LLM training.
• Analyze and process datasets using tools such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Assist with developing processes to build and train models using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Support the development of LLM performance evaluation and benchmarking approaches.
• Document processes, code, and findings clearly and concisely.

Required Experience:

• At least two years of completed courses relevant to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields. Bachelor's of Science degree preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work on data science, computer science, or machine learning-related projects in a way that meaningfully contributed towards achieving the stated goals.
• Strong programming skills in Python (other languages will be considered if applicable to the field of machine learning / deep learning), including proficiency in Jupyter Notebook, Pandas/Keras, and data science packages.
• Experience working with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with statistical concepts and methods for data analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
