Full time permanent Professional Licensed Engineer/Project Electrical Engineer needed for one of these locations: Virginia Beach VA 23462; Glen Allen, VA 23060; Lexington, Kentucky 40507; or Huntsville, Alabama 35801. This is for one of our companies under Day & Zimmermann Company like Yoh is.

$126,120 to $130,000 annual salary

What you need to bring to the table:

  • You must have a Professional License for Engoneering or PE
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; Degree must be ABET accredited, or acceptable to the State Board of Engineers for licensure as a professional engineer
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) preferred; LEED AP preferred.
  • Professional License in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Great attitude and team player
  • Successful completion of drug and background screening process
  • US citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance.

  • Experience in working with all divisions on electrical design and the preparation of all types of engineering and construction documents including lighting, power, and telecommunications; thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), ASHRAE 90.1 and other energy codes, and client design criteria (UFCs, OBO Design Standards, GSA), and familiar with the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM); Knowledge of other building systems and how they coordinate with electrical systems
  • Master of primary design methods and calculations; understands the diverse design process and has strong project experience from inception to substantial completion; has basic understanding of both disciplines within department (electrical and telecommunications); developing command of department policies and administration including proposal preparation.
  • Works with other engineers, disciplines, and project managers to ensure quality, and to verify successful execution of the project; responsible as client facing representative of electrical department and begins to participate in business development activities; actively supports project manager and department leadership with design scope modifications for assigned projects. Actively manages project cost throughout the design. Ensures design constructability and coordination with other disciplines necessary for a successful construction project.
  • Interpersonal savvy and willingness/ability to communicate effectively (oral and writing) with M&H team members as well as clients; able to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within company, and able to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department.
  • Must build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed while maintaining their lead role for the project. Other duties as assigned.
  • Data privacy, information security and policy compliance
What you will be doing:
  • Develop technical requirements for renovation and new construction projects in support of the development of design requests for proposal. Including facility walkthroughs, and stakeholder meetings/interviews.
  • Create, edit, and check project documents to include plans and BIM models, specifications, support documents (basis of design), requests for proposal, and statements of work.
  • Perform technical reviews of design packages submitted by design firms.
  • Create cost estimates in support of technical requirements development.
  • Perform ITRs, cost estimates, and other tasks as required.
  • Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.
