Position: Production Control Manager - Custom Equipment
Location: Alabaster, AL (This is an on-site position)
Pay: $65K - $85K (Exempt)

Job Summary:
As the Production Control Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of production planning and control. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials, resources, and information throughout the production process. Your primary goal will be to establish a robust production control process, maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize lead times, and maximize production output. Must have knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
Job Duties:
  • Develop and implement a production control management system to control processes and deliver resources for the successful on-time delivery of manufactured products.
  • Work closely with the Master Scheduler to develop and implement detailed, constraint-based, production schedules to meet promised deliveries.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal levels of raw materials (including steel), fabrication materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to support production needs.
  • Implement and oversee an effective inventory and production control system.
  • Provide technical guidance in the use and optimization of the Epicor ERP system.
  • Effectively manage the procurement team to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality personnel regarding material status and production planning issues.
  • Assist in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, improvement programs, and both individual and department objectives.
  • Prepare regular reports on production objectives, performance, and compliance for management review.
  • Achieve optimum employee levels with appropriate amounts of overhead and expenditures to meet an annual budgetary plan.
  • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
  • Manage, oversite, and direct involvement in purchasing activities assuring best cost, timely procurement, and vendor qualifications.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, supply chain management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Must have Knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, and control in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Must have fabrication background.
  • Proficient use of ERP and MRP systems. (Epicor experience preferred).
  • Experienced with MS Office, particularly skilled in utilizing MS Excel at an advanced level.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and team management abilities.
