Operations: This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare part build files using CAD software (Pro/E or Creo, SolidWorks)
  • Evaluate the build risk
  • Devise successful build strategy
  • Advise and document to RE's and ME's of build risk analysis in ITS
  • Advise and document to RE's and ME's of build recommended geometry changes needed to lessen the possible build failure.
  • Follow standardized file systems, traceability documentation
  • Meeting both quality and schedule expectations
  • Help to develop new and improved build parameters while not sacrificing the part quality.
  • Rapidly design support structures for printed components taking into account factors like heat input/warpage, surface finish, process efficiency, and final requirement conformance
  • Follow a standardized workflow that maximizes part quality, machine up-time and production throughput
  • Trouble shoot machine issues and offer advice per past machine experiences.
  • Contact machine vendors when experiencing machine issues not yet seen before.
  • Developing new methods and algorithms for improving existing robots or creating new ones
  • Testing the robot's ability to maneuver in different environments, including staircases, elevators, and other locations where humans may be present
  • Coordinating with engineers to ensure that the robot's design meets specifications and conforms to industry standards
  • Monitoring the robot's performance in real time and providing instructions to it through a control panel or computer interface
  • Solving problems related to robot functionality or design that are identified by engineers or other team members
  • Creating computer programs to allow the robot to function autonomously and respond to changes in its environment
  • Implementing safety measures to prevent the robot from causing damage to itself or others when performing its tasks
  • Programming the robot to perform specific tasks such as picking up objects with robotic hands or using a welding torch to join metal pieces together
  • Maintaining the robot's hardware to ensure proper functioning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience with one or more of the following software CAD software (Pro/E or Creo, ABB Robot Studio, and KUKA Robots)
  • 3+ years of experience in Laser Welding Applications
  • 1+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace, medical devices, or other engineered products
  • An attitude of world-class quality, attention-to-detail, and dedication to the rigors necessary to pursue of human-space-flight goals.
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness, attention-to-detail, and process ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to rigorous schedule constraints
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with one or more of the following software CAD software (Pro/E or Creo, ABB Robot Studio, and KUKA Robots)
  • Training or experience working with metal additive manufacturing machines
  • 5+ years of experience in Laser Welding Applications
  • 5+ years of experience with 3-D CAD data - viewing, interrogation and or use for design
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace, medical devices, or other engineered products
