As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will manage, maintain and setup cutting tools and fixtures for machining. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of setting up cutting tools per specified configurations, ordering cutting tools and kitting all needed items specific to the project. The permanent location of this position is Huntsville, Alabama. This Huntsville site is slated to open in Q1 2020. We intend to start the candidate in the current facility in Kent, Washington then transition the role toHuntsville. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
Kit all jobs with cutting tools listed per documentation
Order tools as required or needed for the machine shop
Maintain cutting tool and fixture inventory
Set cutting tool lengths
Grind cutting tools as needed
Work to provided and improve setup documentation
Communicate with machinists, programmers, scheduler and designers
Support and/or perform process improvement projects
Maintain configuration control on files and job records
Safely work within an industrial environment
Qualifications:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in a machine shop environment
Knowledge of cutting tools and machine shop tooling applications
Excellent communication skills
Ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gages and dial indicators
General inventory knowledge
Familiar with use of personal computers
Problem solving and attention to detail
Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
Knowledge of common aerospace cutting tool coatings
Experience operating basic hand tools and grinders
Experience operating mills and lathes
Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
Fluent in use of precision hand tools
Cutting tool length pre-setter experience
Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)
