What you will do Let's transform the health experience, one connection at a time, together.The Director of Communications & Marketing is a new role that will steer the development and refinement of OPH's narrative and evangelization of our brand to the world. You will be the key storyteller and build impactful messaging and content that serves as the glue between our strategy, industry trends, customer needs, and our offerings. Additionally, you will lead internal and external communications and support change management initiatives, particularly in shaping our culture as a distinctive healthcare technology and service provider where agility, a bias for action, and rapid learning is paramount.Reporting to the head of strategy and corporate development, this person will work closely with our executive leadership team as well as colleagues across Otsuka. The scope of this role may evolve to include direct people leadership.The successful candidate will bring a unique blend of communications and marketing knowledge.

Within your first 30 days, you will have:
  • Developed an understanding of our brand, our story both past and present, SOPs, and how OPH fits within our parent company.
  • Built an understanding of our strategy, team, products, and service offerings and how our work aligns to our parent and sister companies.
  • Started building relationships within OPH and liaising with other Otsuka companies in support of media inquiries and other requests.
  • Refined existing marketing materials for discussion with other organizations to position OPH as a leader in our chosen areas of play.
Within your first 60 days, you will have:
  • Created a communications framework to manage and prioritize requests from executive leadership and other OPH team members.
  • Created a comprehensive OPH impact story incorporating any recognition that OPH has received in the market and your expertise in maximizing the impact of various marketing channels.
  • Developed and trained the executive team on a common narrative for internal and external use.
Within your first 90 days, you will have:
  • Created a distinctive, creative near-term enterprise marketing strategy including a prioritized, fit-for-purpose approach to external engagement.
  • Begun driving cultural activation by understanding the broad OPH team, its needs, and how effectively those needs are being tended in partnership with HR.
  • Activated the first phase of your enterprise marketing strategy with measurable impact on brand awareness and business growth, compliantly using advanced, cutting-edge marketing and communications tactics and data analytics.
By the end of your first year, you will have:
  • Established an effective short-to-mid-term marketing strategy with clear, positive business impact.
  • Established yourself as a trusted advisor representing OPH as a brand ambassador.
  • Shown your prowess as a champion for creating impactful, data-driven communications campaigns, breaking new ground with for identity, continually improving our approach to communications and marketing that challenges the status quo, and efficiently engaging of our stakeholders, internally and externally.
Other responsibilities may be assigned based on OPH strategy & corporate development needs and the successful candidate's skillset and knowledge.What we expect from youMinimum QualificationsWe are all different, yet we all use our unique abilities to better serve patients, providers, and caregivers.   • Bachelor's degree & 10 years of marketing and/or communications experience at a healthcare, life science, or technology organization.
  • High level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Executive communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Eagerness to take ownership and accountability for building a core capability for a well-supported, new company within a larger organization.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or master's degree in marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • At least 15 years of experience in leading and managing communications and marketing in a high-growth company with experience working at or with biopharmaceutical and technology organizations and agencies.
  • High-level of intellectual curiosity combined with strong strategic and analytical skill with an ability to think beyond the status quo or what is an accepted way of working.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a positive, collaborative manner in the face of ambiguity.
  • Experience in developing effective, actionable communication strategies and plans creatively with supporting performance measures to quickly learn and adapt.
  • Expertise in building and deploying enterprise-level marketing plans support products and/or services and measuring the effectiveness of those plans with a mix of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Extensive expertise spanning traditional marketing channels, web site use, social media, and other relevant media.
  • Experience working globally, specifically with colleagues in Japan, the U.S., and Europe.
  • Understanding of change management principles and proven results in leading cultural transformations within a global enterprise
  • Up to 30% travel based on business need.

Minimum $179,721.00 - Maximum $268,755.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate's job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
