Lead Privacy Specialist

Location: Columbus, OH; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX (REQUIRED)

Hybrid Role

The Lead Privacy Specialist will report to and work with the Sr. Director - Privacy to lead or support key privacy initiatives and provide oversight for a variety of privacy projects in support of the enterprise privacy compliance program and various McKesson business units.

The Lead Privacy Specialist will work closely with other members of the Global Privacy Privacy Office, the Digital & Data Assets legal team, Business Unit Compliance teams, Information Security Risk Management, IT, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and other business colleagues to drive privacy innovation, and identify privacy opportunities and needs at McKesson.

The Lead Privacy Specialist will operate under minimal supervision while serving as a key resource to the enterprise and will be responsible for many of the following:

  • Serve as a HIPAA privacy subject matter compliance expert.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Business Unit specific privacy policies, procedures, guidance and training materials.
  • Support the centralization and standardization of privacy processes across Business Unit segments.
  • Provide guidance on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls.
  • Support risk assessment activities, including gap analysis and corrective action.
  • Work with various stakeholders to proactively identify and prioritize privacy strategy, governance and compliance needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Total of 10+ years of professional work experience in Privacy/HIPPA

Critical Skills

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in privacy with a particular emphasis on HIPAA
  • Knowledge of privacy frameworks and principles, and experience in privacy compliance programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate with minimal direction, while juggling multiple priorities
  • Ability to influence across the organization at all levels
  • Ability to draft policy documents and translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements
  • Strategic and analytical skills

Additional Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Courage to take difficult or unpopular positions when necessary to protect the company
  • Experience in a large, decentralized, multi-national company
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other similar business performance framework
  • Experience in health care, life sciences, or legal services
  • Preferred location: Columbus OH, Atlanta GA, DFW, Tex - remote not an option

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preference given to those with technology, business, healthcare or legal background
  • Law Degree Preferred
  • CIPP certification desired

In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$130,800 - $218,000
